SAP adds 27 members to its Blockchain innovation program

The company specializing in SAP software, based in Germany, has announced the addition of 27 new members to its collaborative program for the development of Blockchain technology.

Announced today during the SAP TechEd event in the city of Barcelona, ​​Spain, the latest members of the initiative cover a wide range of industries in the telecommunications sector, retail chains, pharmaceuticals, supply chain, public services, among others, according to a press release published on the official SAP website.

Described by SAP as a "blockchain coinnovation initiative", the group of companies was created with the aim of promoting collaboration in the development of distributed business processes using peer-to-peer networks. In this sense, the firm revealed that it is working to integrate the Blockchain technology to the Internet of Things (IoT), supply chains and manufacturing, with the help of its Blockchain platform in the SAP Cloud.

According to Joe Peraino, representative of the American company Benjamin Morro & Co, his company wants to explore the potential of the block chain to streamline operations throughout its supply chain. In this regard, the executive said:

Our company is particularly eager to explore the possibilities with transportation management and simplify the complexities that exist in today's systems with paper records.
SAP also announced that the Spanish consortium Alastria (formerly Red Lyra) will join its program, as well as Blockchain in Trucking Alliance (BiTA), in a move aimed at promoting the adoption of blockchain technology among its customers.

Finally, the company added that the incorporation of Alastria into its program will strengthen its ecosystem and its Blockchain network throughout Europe. He also said that the union with BiTA will help expand its services in cargo and transportation management.
