"V12 under the bonnet" [#1]

in #cars8 years ago

Hello !
This is my first post and I don't know properly about steemit.

V12 engines before they came under the car bonnet, they had used for airplanes, tanks, ships and locomotives . The first-ever V12 engine was built by Putney Motor Works. It happened in 1904. The 18.4-liter unit was had 150 HP It was used to propel racing boats. His name was „Craig-Dorwald”. V engine with 12 cylinders was appreciated by the aircraft constructors. During World War II, the most famous fighters like Supermarine Spitfire or Messerschmitt Bf 109 were powered by V12 engines.

*For the first time V12 it was mounted to the car in 1913. "Toodles V" was built by the British Sunbeam company and presented during the Brooklands race. This engine had 9 liters engine capacity and it was generated 200hp . It weighed 340 kg. His constructor is Louis Coatalen

I used to have that, but.. how is at this moment?
V12 is famous for its high work culture. In the case of 12 cylinders, the working stroke occurs 6 times during one full revolution of the crankshaft. For comparison, in the most popular 4-cylinder engine this process occurs twice. The V12 does not need balancing shafts to achieve work harmony. All this makes that the expensive in production V12 engines always get the top versions of limousines and sports cars, becoming at the same time a showcase and demonstration of the capabilities of their manufacturers. All this creates an extraordinary atmosphere to commune with real motoring masterpieces. I will discuss these cars in the next posts.
