Busy day:shopping and prepping due to coronavirus spreading around the world, เตรียมรับมือวิกฤตโรคโคโรนาไวรัสทั่วโลก

This is my entry for #marketfriday hosted by the compassionate @dswigle. These past few days, the reports on the number of people infected by the new coronavirus or Covid-19 have been quite a shock indicating the future pandemic around the world. There is not yet any sign of panic in Bangkok although more people are wearing protective masks. There were a few fake news about staff in a mall getting ill because of this coronavirus. So, there was a rush of office workers to HomePro to buy all the available masks! I was quite disappointed to find that all the masks were gone.

However, I have been given a few masks; I will use a mask when the risk level has become high. But, I need to get some backup masks as these are the disposable types. I went to HomePro to get some disinfectant, gloves and masks, dustbin linings and water filters. The nearest skytrain station is Ploenchit station.

There’s an entrance directly from the skywalk; a very nice shop called HUG near the entrance.

This hardware mall is right in the middle of most expensive rental area in Bangkok. All the important embassies are within walking distance from this mall; all the big hotels and banks are also very near. Most customers are very rich expats and Japanese people living and working in this area. So, you could find very nice collections of all the best tools for gardening and DIY in your house. I always spend a lot of time in the lighting and gardening sections.

I need to buy some extra water filters for my country house as I am not certain about the supply chain disruptions in a few months’ time. Also, future prices will become higher as governments continue to print money or do more QE to support the ailing economic systems around the world. I think I would rather be on the safe side, just in case things got suddenly worse unexpectedly. Besides, I will have to invest in drilling a ground well for backup water source on my land. That means I need to check out a water pump in the near future. A lot or extra expenses are coming my way, I pray for cryptos to be going to the moon to help out with my survival or prepping project.

The collections of various chemicals on the shelves are just overwhelming. I have no idea people would invent so many kinds of sprays for all sorts of purposes! To my surprise, I could not find any practical disinfectants such as Clorox or hydrogen peroxide!

The store is very quiet so they have to do a promotion of ‘buy one get one free’ for some goods. I select three bottles of bathroom cleaning liquid which could be diluted for disinfecting purpose.

There is a whole floor full of kitchen appliances, bathroom accessories and living room entertainment. I always skip this floor as I would spend too much time there.

The tools section is my favourite as there seems to be new tools and gadgets available for me to investigate every time. I wish there was some tutorials to explain to customers what these new tools could do. Ladders! I need new tall one but I could not possibly take them with me on the train!

สุดสัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมาเรายุ่งมากกับการวางแผน สำหรับรับมือกับสถานการณ์โรคระบาดโควิด-19 ที่กำลังจะกลายเป็นโรคระบาดร้ายแรงทั่วโลก เราต้องไปวิ่งหซื้อหน้ากากป้องกันเชื้อโรคที่แพร่ได้ในอากาศ เรารีบไปร้านโฮมโปรที่อยู่ใกล้สถานีรถไฟฟ้าเพลินจิต ทางเข้าก็สังเกตง่ายมาก มีร้านกาแฟอยู่ตรงทางเข้าชั้นสองจากทางเดินข้างบน เราชอบไปเดินดูของที่แผนกเครื่องไฟฟ้า เครื่องมือทำสวน และเครื่องมือซ่อมแซมบ้านมาก ส่วนชั้นอื่นเราก็แต่เดินผ่าน เพราะจะทำให้เราเสียเวลามากเกินไป ที่นั่นจอดรถได้เพียงสามชั่วโมงเท่านั้น

เรากำลังต้องคิดเรื่องเจาะนํ้าบาดาลในเร็วๆนี้ เราก็ต้องศึกษาเรื่องเครื่องปั๊มน้ำ และแท็งค์น้ำด้วย และเราก็ต้องเตรียมนํ้ายาสำหรับฆ่าเชื้อโรค เตรียมไว้ในยามฉุกเฉินเรื่องโรคระบาด แต่เรายังหาซื้อหน้ากากไม่ได้เลย เราไปที่นั่นสองรอบแล้วแต่เขาขายหมดก่อนทุกครั้ง พวกฝรั่งชอบเหมาไปหมดและนักท่องเที่ยวด้วยเช่นกัน เราไม่ได้ถุงมืออย่างที่เราต้องการ คงต้องไปหาที่ห้างอื่น เราได้ของจำเป็นแล้วก็เดินเล่นในแผนกสวนและ เครื่องเรือนที่ชั้นห้า ทำให้ได้ดูของสวยเพลินใจสักพักก่อนต้องไปที่อื่นต่อ

My favourite section is on the fifth floor where garden furniture and living room furniture seem so attractive to me. I wish I could have some of these garden table sets but they are not suitable for outdoor usage in hot and wet seasons.

I try not to spend more than two hours in this big store as there’s always the temptation to spend future money on unnecessary items. So, I get my three bottles of disinfectant and some masks for DIY job; for protection against micro dust. The search for proper masks still goes on.
