"Mediterranean" landscapes in Badacsony
Yesterday I had a wonderful trip with my friend Csaba, who has good local knowledge. We targeted Badacsony, one of the many volcanic mountains at the North side of Lake Balaton. Millions of years ago Balaton didn't existed yet, but there was a huge volcanic area. Its climate is sub-Mediterranean, where mineral-rich volcanic soil has been producing very good quality grapes on the southern slopes for centuries. Because of many sunshine hours, fruits ripen sooner and are more sweet than elsewhere.
