WELCOME TO STEEMITS FIRST WITCHCRAFT BLOG
So this was us two weeks ago in NY Astor Place's Annual Witch Convention. Very loud Christian protestors yelling, and my daughter showing some love for a local band we just met that were pretty amazing. Notice the guy in the middle? His sign says he'll side with whoever buys him some cigarettes lol.
There are as many different denominations (traditions) of witchcraft as there are of Christianity maybe more. Not everyone who practices witchcraft is Wiccan, and no one that practices witchcraft worships satan/the devil. In fact most witches don't even believe in the devil, or Heaven for that matter tho also because many believe in reincarnation. Every witch believes in God, or Gods and like me they believe in the Goddess or Goddesses.
My family is super Christian of the Baptist variety. My grandmother published religious poetry and music. They went to those huge conventions where the people speak in tongues, lay hands for healing, praying, singing and overall rejoicing in the lord. Then of course to the refreshments area after to talk amongst yourselves. If you've ever been to one you may know that they are not much different than a witchcraft ceremony, casting or celebration.
There is good reason for that as Christianity was molded along the paganism beliefs. As you may know Paganism pre dates Christianity. If you make a graph of all of the Pagan holidays and one of the Christian holidays they are almost identical. Also many Christian churches are built on or near former Pagan places of worship. This is because the pagans were already used to going to those places on those dates. So....voila, they made paganism illegal and instilled fines for not going to church.Even in more modern times, Civil War Williamsburg USA lets use as an example. You could be put in the pillory for several days for not attending church, and they kept attendance records.
Btw some vocabulary:
Paganism- believing in more than one God. ( This means me lol because I believe in God but I believe he has a wife)
Majick- the manipulation of the Earths & or Earthly objects energies for a specific purpose
witch- someone who sings, burns candles, uses herbs and crystal to practice majick for a specific positive outcome.
So that's all for now. I have to take my sweet basil & blackberry cheesecake out of the oven. I'm not sure how long I should make these for what would be acceptable on a regular basis for readers. Please ask me any questions that you wish. If you want a private conversation my email is [email protected] THANX FOR LISTENING & BLESSED BE

Did you talk to any of the protesters? Was it scary having them around? Were you even able to reach any sort of magical peace with them there?
The protestors were a kind of bonus for the street fair. The organizers were actually really excited to have drawn the attention even if it was negative in a way. They were loud and most repeated the same mantra over and over. There were several officers that prevented direct contact. However it did bring to my attention that some people are still very closed minded and living in a differnt world so to speak. They yelled about everything from devil worship to repenting for using birth control. They stayed at one end of the street even tho we covered end to end.
We actually cleansed an area for ritual and led by Starr Ann RavenHawk & Rev Don Lewis from Witch School International. We covered such a large area that we really took no notice of them. It was an enjoyable day
It is weird to see them there. I wonder if they were imported from elsewhere cause I really can't imagine diverse NYC, the village no less, having those more extreme elements around.
