Fresh out from 12 days in County..

County Jail, Orient Rd. Tampa, FL.

I got picked up on a warrant for a VOP (violation of probation) on August 4th..

I just arrived at home, right now, 3am August 17th.

I spent the past ~2 weeks in the county jail and it was absolutely disgusting..
I violated for peeing dirty for bud and they issued a warrant 2 weeks after the fact.

The food was garbage, but the people in my pod were actually chill af and laid back, non-aggressive and quite a bit more intelligent than I'd expected frankly.
I met some interesting people in there that I related to on many different levels, whether that be philosophies on life, ideas, or just thought processes in general. I met one man in there who was a self taught drawing-artist and his skills were insanely incredible.. I will be sharing some of his work on here for him until he gets out, in fact. I know a couple of artist friends and I plan on putting him on and getting him some recognition for his talent so he can get out of the loop he's been stuck in with guns and drugs. He's incredibly intelligent, just a victim of his circumstances and a product of his environment (much as I have been most of my life also) and we vibed so much to the point where I could see his true nature, the great person, man, that he is and has the potential to be. I vowed to him that I would be his support system and push his art and that he had talent that was too incredible to waste and that I would work for and with him to get the recognition his skills deserve.

Experiences

Beyond the people and the food, I saw first-hand just how disgusting and immoral/unethical the deputies (guards) were in there toward the inmates.. With NO provocation.. The ones who provoked them and got treated that way, were understandable, but for those who hadn't, it was incredibly wrong how they were treated.. Among the verbal and, at times, physical abuse, they were denied meals, locked down (confined to room/cell) for long periods of time, put into chairs meant to inflict pain, put in "turtle" suits to constrict all movement, harassed and just overall treated as if they were animals.. Even being denied medical treatment..

The one thing I took away from all of this, is that among everything else, the prison/jail system is simply a tool of EXTORTION and nothing more, it's not about "Justice" as they would have you believe. With over 3/4 of the people in there for drug charges, that involved and affected no one other than parties involved and willing, they are basically being extorted for making their own decisions with their own bodies.

Extortion you say?

Somehow, they are able to take HALF of your money you have on you when you get arrested as a "charge" or "fee" for them arresting you.. (I'm PAYING for you stupid sacks of shit to put me in a cage? Are you fucking retarded?)
Phone calls cost ridiculous amounts.
They have a "canteen" where you can order food if you have someone put money into your account from the outside, but the prices are trumped up ridiculously.. (Ramen noodles, for example, the most common jail "currency" that cost 12-15 cents outside, were 87 cents a piece.)
They purposely feed you food that is absolute slop and portioned for a puppy.. my best guess, to get you to starve enough to put money into canteen and extort you with trumped up prices and no other options..
If you need glasses, you can buy only one prescription strength (+1.0) and they cost you 33$+, so if you'd like to be able to see, you must buy their shoddy pairs.
If you'd like a radio, it costs about 40$ or so, for a simple, non-digital, tuner radio with garbage headphones.
(The radio, I understand... It's an amenity, not a necessity.)
If you have a medical condition and need medicine, you get charged RIDICULOUSLY trumped up prices for GENERIC meds..

All in all, these are just some of the experiences I've come across in my time here.
There were more, but I'd rather not drone on, as you can probably imagine what else happens in these places..

I've been locked up in other states and I have to say, I've NEVER seen anything close to how disgusting the treatment is inside this FL jail.. So now that I've been lied on and turned into a felon and have now experienced a small taste of what would be much worse if it were actual prison.. I fully intend to move out of FL for good and at this point, with how the country is headed, the USA entirely.
