¥700 is not much for something that has the potential to be so fruitful.

I was headed out get a beer or two and some snacks for everybody from the local convenience store, when something told me to keep driving. I thought it might be nice to go to the home and garden center near our house and peruse the plants and seeds—and whatever other interesting summer fare they had—for a half hour or so. I was alone, the day was winding down, and I thought it might be nice.

Halfway down the road, however, I had second thoughts. I don’t really wanna be around all those people. I just want a beer, and to chill at home for a bit. Still, something pulled me on.

I ended up in the potted plants section outside and came across a lone blackberry bush. Poor bastard looked sad, yet full of potential. Only 12 bucks. Just around the corner was an apple tree. 7 bucks! This is a good investment, when you think about it. People get bored with plants, and stuff like that, but when you think about it, it’s just about the best kind of investment there is.

Anyway, I bought them both, and my son and I got them settled into their new homes. If everything is all lined up right, and the soil’s okay, this Fuji apple tree will start to really pay off and produce lots of fruit for us when my son is around 9 or 10. He’s 5 now.

My favorite little helper, and the coolest guy I know. Here’s to our new apple tree! And here’s to the summer!

Great! It will be a good experience for your son, and I hope that it grows well.

right on!

Beautiful .. I predict many special memories will be made under the shade of your family tree :) We planted a fig tree last year.

I agree that trees especially fruit trees are a good investment. Isaiah looked excited and enthusiastic about it. Take good care of the young trees and hopefully you can reap some good apples in future :)

Great stuff! Now that I think of it, fruit trees are a very good long term investment. The only thing you'd have to look out for is that the tree might attract illnesses. But if everything goes right, you'll have free fruit for years to come!

Appreciate your way of giving knowledge about the effectiveness of plantation. May be, he enjoyed this, right?? and later he will be interested in doing this work.

Great job. But you have to put fence and water here every day. Your son is so sweet and active. Thanks for sharing.

Oh how I envy you, able to plant an apple tree and all with your land, all my plants still have to stay in they own pots! Lol
