Do you know this berry?
It is growing wild at the swamps of Finland and is a really valuable berry. One kilogram costs 20-30€ in Finland. The jam made of it is so delicious and the fragrance you get whist making it is very good. We used to pick them up at from the Lapland with my family at our holiday trips there. When I moved down to eastern part of Finland, I found out one secret place where I go every year to get enough for my family.
The crop varies every time, this year we got them a lot. I Finland you have everyman’s right to go to any forest to pick up wild berries for free! I really enjoy doing it; even there are some mosquitoes and horseflies around.
In Finland we call this berry by many names, lakka, hilla and suomuurain , for example. In English it is called cloudberry. Have you tasted it? I wonder if you have the same berry growing at your country and do you use to pick them up? I would like to know how you are using it and find others who also like to pick up berries at the forest. It would be interesting to compare different experiences from different countries.
