Short Scary Story #6

THE CHILDREN

Justin and Kate are a new couple that have met for a late night movie showing. When they get out of the theater it's well past midnight and the parking lot is nearly empty.

Although they parked next to eachother, Kate was letting her van warm up while they sat in Justins car. As they were engulfed in conversation and about a ready to kiss, a sudden knocking came from the driver window.

Neither had noticed anyone come up to the car but when they looked there was a group of 8 well dressed children staring back at them. The oldest being 10 years at the most. Justin rolled down his window,

"Can I help you with something? Where are your parents?"

The oldest one quickly replied, 

"Sir, we are lost. Can you bring us home?"

The children continued the unblinking stare as the other 7 responded in unison,

"Will you let us in?"

Justin was creeped out by this and before he could explain that he couldn't fit them all, Kate quickly said delightfully,

"I can take you home. We can take my van."

When she turned to open her door, Justin grabed her arm and wispered.

"are you sure? is that a good idea?"

Kate leaned in and gave him a kiss, then opened the door and got out of his car while Justin stared at her. But she just stood still,

"where did they go?"

The children had disapeared. Justin got out of his car and they both looked around and inside Kate's van. But they were gone. Spooked, they both leave in a rush.

As Justin is driving home, he starts to think about how the children were staring and the how they spoke. He starts to freek himself out. how did they just show up? where did they go? did i just see ghosts?

He goes for his phone to call a friend to explain the situation when he looks in the rearview mirror and see's a childs face. Staring back at him.

"You were supposed to let us in"

He turns back to find an empty seat. But when he returns his eyes to the road, a person is standing in his headlights. In a panic he swerves off the road and smashes into a tree. As he is lying there in pain, barely conscious after the wreck

He hears a familiar knocking at his driver side window...
