INEC Training for Presidential Election
It's a good thing to serve our country with all our heart and mind. Good morning from here i trust we all are doing great.
Today i will be sharing my experience with you during my 3 days INEC training here in Ikom Local Government Area of Cross River State of Nigeria.
We all know that the general election is by the corner and we all are expected to cast our votes to exercise our franchise.
The process was not an easy task but we have to make sure that everyone was carried alongside.
We had lectures for 3 day which has helped in teaching us on the overall aspect on how election in our country should be organized and carried out by INEC officials. INEC staff were mandated to carryout this exercise in order to help the country to achieve her goal in this coming General election.
We were divided into different classes to make the job easier for them to handle. However, the training was a great success. The election E- manuals were downloaded by all participants on our smartphone for easy follow up. This was because the printed manuals were not sufficient to serve the population.
We were thought both the theory aspects and the practicals. However, we were also given a pretest and equally a final test at the end of the practical.
This garget is been handle by the Assistant Presiding Officer 1, for verification and authentication of the voter. Here the verification is been carried our using the two process below:
• Last 6 digits of the VIN Number: this is being seen behind the voters card.
• search for the last name of the voter.
• The APO1 shall authenticate a voter via his/her thumbs/finger print.
• Facial recognition.
These are the two procedures which the APO1 can use to make sure the voter can be accredited for voting.
We also have the electronic voters register (EVR). This register is been handle or control by the APO2. This is to help and make sure that the voter's information is been registered in the EVR before he/she can be sent to APO1 for verification.
The poll were set before us and we have an intimate knowledge on how we can carryout this process comes 25th February 2023 General election.
Party agents are not allow to do campaign at the polling unit. All campaign materials must be removed from the polling unit by the APO3 before the election begins. If any official compromise during the process, the PO has the power to call for his replacement through his SPO.
The APO3 is in charge of the queue coordination, checking of voters card if it belongs to that polling unit and applying inks on the right thumb. The APO3 will be the one to read out the code of conduct to the voters before the election began. The time for election is 8:30am to 2:30pm. The BVAS has been program using that time frame of 8:30am. Note when it's not up to 8:30am, the BVAS can not start functioning.
I want you to note that once it's 2:30pm, the security personnel will be ordered to stand behind the queue as this will not allow any voter who comes after 2:30pm to join the queue.
Preferential treatment will be given to the "Elderly people, pregnant women, mothers with babies and people with disabilities (PWDs). This set of people will be attended first before others and it's the duty of APO3 to sort them out and form another line.
At the end of the election, all the votes cast will be sorted out by the PO and counting will be done as the result will be announce.
I hope you found value as you must have gotten an inside on the forth coming general election. Note: "No voter's card, No voting". I believe you must have known a lot concerning this coming election. Thank you for your time.
Wow I really learnt a lot from this article. I really hope this election would be free and fair for the benefit of all Nigerians
You are welcome
