Joshua Tree National Park

Dear fellow Steemians!

Almost November, it rained all day, grey sky, drinking tea and turning on the heater - that is the way German fall looked like today. You could say that I'm on my way to a depression. So what to do against it? Scrolling through thousands of images from our honeymoon in 2016. Great memories coming back to my mind and most of the pictures show the sun 😃.

I decided to go with a little post about Joshua Tree National Park. We stayed in Palm Springs for a couple of days and the drive to the park entrance where we went, is about 45 minutes. Palm Springs is located between Joshua Tree, Mt San Jacinto State Park and San Bernardino National Forest. So you have a lot to explore. The PCT is close by if you want to walk a couple of meters on this famous trail. Do you know the movie "Wild" with Reese Witherspoon?

We stopped at the visitor center to gather some information about the park because we just had this day to explore the park. Compared to a lot of other National Parks we visited, it was really empty which was great of course! As you can see on the pictures above we tried to have some fun outdoors, jumped around and explored the park. Even tough it was freakin' hot outside we walked a trail for about 90 minutes.

Actually the park is all about the Joshua Tree, Yucca brevifolia. The band U2 called their 5th studio album "The Joshua Tree". The tree is found all over the Mojave Desert. If you are into the details, check out Wikipedia.

Writing this post makes me want to go back to this place so bad. I hope we have the chance to travel any time soon. Take care and always protect yourself against the sun! 😜

I remember going here as a young lad and going rock climbing. Very nice!

Thank you. We didn't climb because it was sooooo hot.

sehr geile Fotos.

Wahnsinn! Ich mache was falsch :P
Westküste ist der Hammer. Kann ich nur empfehlen.

You captured some of the beauty of this stark, amazing place. Bring many liters of water when you hike. You would not believe how quickly you dehydrate in the desert. And it can get dangerous more quickly than you might think.

You are totally right. It's so said to read stories about people dying during hikes through the mountains in Arizona and co in the summer time. We always carry tons of water because of these stories. But thanks again for the advice.
