Ethereum, you mean the coin which has an unproven "turing complete" programming language that a teenager pulled out of his ass 2 years ago, which has been famously used to maliciously move millions of stolen Ether to a new account - which required the hacking prowess of a video-game duper circa 1999? Smart contracts will be implemented into Waves in early 2017 after extensive testing and auditing. There will be massive bounties for breaking the system as well. I suggest you look at the Waves Roadmap and blog, which can be found using google.
