Aries illustration / or another never materialized project
Don't know much about horoscopes, signs and astrology..only I know when someone who is into that staff asks me about mine sign and ascendant, and when I tell them they just roll over their eyes. It looks like my combination is not easy one. I know I'm living with it all my life..
So, how come it happened working illustration of Aries?
Friend of mine was starting doing some internet writing about horoscopes, so he was thinking of having some unique illustration for each sign. So I said, OK, I will give it a try.
I'm repeating, I don't know much about all of it, but I went online to see some general info about characteristic of this sign, and made this two versions.
The main idea was starting from first sign of Zodiac, Aries..
His idea didn't came to realization but those two illustrations stayed as a memory of another never done project.

I love Mucha... secession is my most favourite period... and your pieces are amazing!

I do not know much about Zodiac other than it can be fun to read about.
However, I do love the Mucha style here. You have a good way with hair, that works really well. Great color pallets. I like the orange circle in the backgrounds as an element of composition.
I also like both versions with the background pattern and the tattoo. Both are fantastic ideas.
If I had to choose between the two...
I would choose the 2nd. Only because I think the size and dimensions of the image are a slightly better fit. A taller image allows us to see her entire head. Although cutting off her hair at the top on the first image is BARELY noticeable thanks to your composition and again, that wonderful hair. What you gain from the wider aspect ratio in the 1st image is the ability to introduce that excellent pattern too, so it's worth it.

@kidsysco, thank you so much for such detailed comment. I do love Mucha, and since I have seen his work in Prague, believe me totally in love with him. He was great artist, with so many talents.
And regarding illustrations, I do tend sometimes to cut some parts, I know it's not in basic drawing principles but I like to do that when I feel right.

Awesome pieces :) I reeally like the face expressions of the girls. The first one looks to me like a lady of strong will and a dark vision in mind, while the second one looks like a mystery, she hides some kind of secret behind her smile. Resteemed :)
