THE DIARY GAME | 04-07-2021 | Have You Tried Balut?

in Steem SEA5 years ago

Today was a normal day, we had the same breakfast, lunch and dinner routine. As a stay at home mom, it may sometimes become a boring one but because I have an eight month old baby that I need to attend to, I have to always lift myself up for my child's sake.

Because it is just a normal day, I thought I can't blog today. But thankfully, at the end of the day, my brother bought balut which is a good topic to talk about.

So, if you are not from the Philippines, you might have not encountered this delicacy. This is a duck egg which is incubated for a period of time then steamed.

Balut bought by my brother.

Here in the Philippines, Balut is a famous thing to be eaten at night. It is said that this food has a lot of nutrients and that it is also aphrodisiac. Our family eats balut every now and then. Today, we had a lot of them and my brother even filmed themselves eating it, mukbang style.

Part 2

While I like the taste of balut, I would always prefer eating the 14 days old instead where the chick isn't that developed yet. I ate two and it is best when paired with salt and spicy vinegar.

Have you tried Balut? Do you think you can eat the chick in it? I knew foreigners who had been given the challenge to eat a balut and most of them would be scared because of how the chick look like when they crack the shell. The solution to that is to skip looking at the chick and just give it a one shot into your mouth.

That is also the main reason why it is recommended to eat this at night in the dark. Most vendors would stay at a poorly lighted area too when selling balut.

That's it for today.
