My Little Friend !!

One day, I was playing in our backyard. Suddenly, I heard something fall from the coconut tree. I ran and saw a tiny, fledgling mynah, may be a day or two old.

I carried the bird inside, but did not know what to do next. My sister had an idea. She suggested that we browse the internet to find out how to take care of a rescued baby bird. We gathered a lot of information. We learnt that we could feed it dry dog food soaked in water and cooked egg yolk with a little water. I also asked my elders about the information on the internet, before helping the little bird.

I have two pet dogs, Ceasar and Mishi, so it was easier to find food for Angel, the name I had chosen for the baby mynah. I fed Angel with dog biscuits, broken into smaller pieces, and soaked in water. I was so happy when I was able to feed Angel with my own hands. I placed some straw, hay and a newspaper in a shoe box and made a nest for her. I gave her food every two hours. The entire summer vacation, I nursed her so she could gain some strength. It is such a good feeling to see a little angel grow in front of your eyes.

When she is able to fly, I'll set her free. But, I also do wish that she visits me. I love my little Angel.
