A housewife or a careerwoman?

Definitely a career woman.

You hardly see a complete house wife now and most guys wouldn't love to settle for a house wife.

Yes, you should be able to take care of the house, ie, the family but you should also be able to hold a career. It is sheer absurdity to sit at home as a complete house wife when other ladies are making it big for themselves without depending on their man.

What would happen if anything happened to the man's job or finances? What would they depend on?

It is good for a woman to have financial dependence and not completely rely on a man for money everytime.
