Celestial Dance, an original collage art work by Bitcoin Babaji

I wanted to add to the blockchain one of my original art works, of which only one original out of about 50 remain. I lost them all in the great fire of 2017 which destroyed around 1000 houses here in my area..

Nevertheless I was able to locate just one copy of one piece, they are all cut-and-paste, pictures recomposed in a new work. I enjoyed making them, some took a day, some longer, and it took me a period of a few years to make around 50. It's a small loss as I can make more...

The collage here shows some sadhus or monks dancing in what seems to be the backdrop of the heavens. The practice in India among spiritual seekers, of engaging in the process of mantra meditation in groups accompanied by musical instruments, like drums and cymbals is an ancient shamanic process which can be seen in this collage.

I used the traditional old school technique of cut and paste here, with scissors and old magazine pictures. No digital work at all. The collection I had was composed of mostly A4 size art works a real labour of love. Nowadays I write more so don't make many art pieces.

It's good to engage both hemispheres of the brain, one in writing and the other in visuals. I may have lost the other art works but at least this one is now on the blockchain, a token gesture for the future. It's a bonus that I actually found a copy of this collage as The rest have all been lost, unless I can locate some copies on a flashdrive. There might be hope. These works show the ease with which old school paper and scissors are can be produced out of recycled magazines.

Let me know what you think in the comments below. This style of art is a recycling process and needs minimal investment, just some glue and cardboard. With a stanley knife or a pair of scissors one can achieve a window to the transcendent or certainly to the surreal. The dreamlike expressionist imagery is the aim. It can help to transport the viewer to the beyond.

Today much the same effect can be created quite easily digitally though I still appreciated the hands on technique here of actually working manually. It may be a dying art, along with things like calligraphy and the fine arts which can all be programmed into an AI of sorts, or done via software. This art piece here is a rare symbol of the fading manual arts. It might go the way of the violin of the paperback novel in the future and the kindle takes over.

To create a successful art piece like this it helps to begin with a dark background. That allows you to build upon it with lighter detail in the foreground. The darker background allow it to stand out more strikingly and adds depth to the picture. Composition is important, and the layout of the figures in the picture are placed in such a way as to lead the eye to the center of the image where the action is taking place. The amorphous background acts as a new bringing all the scattered pieces together, even though it is nothing more than fluffy clouds of galactic nebulae. This truly makes the image cosmic, and adds irony tot eh dancers striving for transcendence.

Since the original no longer exists, we can admire this copy at least for its composition and color combination, a memory of a previous time, in a land far far away.
