My "Dad" Side!

For me, becoming a father is one of my biggest achievements. Yes, because not all men who dream of it were given a chance to be one. And it inspires me more whenever I see a responsible and tireless father building a happy family.

Who am I as a Father?

Ever since I got married I spent more years working abroad. Yes, it was painful for a newlywed couple who got separated due to a call to work. I was assigned to our main company in Japan for training months after our wedding. What made the situation worst was, that year my wife had a complicated pregnancy. In short, she needed me. Yet all I could do was finance her and look for a private doctor to monitor her situation until she delivered our child.

With our second child, I was with my wife throughout her pregnancy. My wife was not that stressed until she gave birth. I remember the Doctor told me "are you really the father of this child"? Why don't you even know how to carry him?
Of course, I smiled and said, "yes, yet this is my first time carrying a newborn baby because I was not with my wife when our first was born."

As days passed, my kids are always my priority. As a father, I am not that strict with them. I don't want to portray a villain rule in my children's life. I let them be a child, let them play and socialize with other kids. I wanted them to remember a happy childhood. The type that when they grow up, they have that memory of a happy kid's life, to be shared and cherished.

Yeah, I am not that strict, but I do discipline them too. I always remind them not to go overboard or else they will receive disciplinary actions from me. You know kids are kids and to do what pleases them is always their choice even if it isn't right. The reason I correct them right away is. The need to discipline them is a must, so they will be guided too.

Whenever I'm at home, one of our bonding moments is helping them with their school assignments and projects. Thank God, they are serious with their studies, and both of them received an award last school year.

Just the mere thought of seeing my children not getting closer to their dreams saddens me. The ultimate goal is, they have to complete their studies no matter what it takes. Especially at this time when education is the best weapon in the rigorous competition out there.

Beyond their academics achievement, my two sons are also active in church services. They are the ones who reminded us during worship days. They also received awards in their Sunday school. Truly our kids are a blessing to us, parents.

During their school break, we will travel for relaxation and create memories together as a family.

Before I end up this blog I will leave this Bible verse from Proverbs 22:6 " Train a child on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it."
