Urbanities # 1

Many things are told about this splendid lung of Madrid, which is, of course, our Retiro Park.

Among them and specifically related to this idyllic corner, which is the Great Pond, it is said that the tents that inhabit it and that are already more than accustomed to the continuous pressure exerted on its peaceful waters by the oars of the boats, are, in actually, descendants of those others that Hitler gave Franco in the forties of the last century.

And the same could be said of the mermaids, heirs of the most notable Hellenic traditions, who, even though they are made of burnished copper, persevere in their eternal desire to distract some sailors, who possibly in this case are more concerned with learning to row with certain elegance than in paying attention to its unique charms.
