Presentation and Purpose

Honor, unite and divulge posts and authors of Portuguese language. This is the first and main objective of the Camões Project. Similar to what has already been done by "Proyecto Cervantes", which is for me a great project that recognizes, preserves and rewards Spanish-speaking authors, I intend to make it possible for "Portuguese speakers" to express themselves in their native language without having afraid that no one will read or pay attention to your post.

Nothing better than communicating in your native language and the Camões Project wants to be able to make this author, whether Brazilian, Portuguese, Angolan, or Mozambican, have the freedom to express his ideas, life experiences, photographs and everything may interest you and without the fear of making mistakes in the grammar and concordance of the English language which is the predominant language here in Steemit.

Who was Camões?

Luiz Vaz de Camões, was born in the year 1524 in Lisbon - Portugal. Poet, is known as one of the greatest icons of Portuguese-language literature (Lusófona) and is considered one of the greatest poets of the East.

Despite his genius and be a great orator, poet and his immense skill in words, his life was rather troubled. Several are the historical accounts that he lived a bohemian life, full of conflicts and prisons. Because of a frustrated love, voluntarily he self exiled in Africa, enlisted as a military man and during a battle he lost his right eye.

In his lifetime, he complained that his work was not widely recognized and that he suffered many injustices on the part of the public. It was only after his death in the year 1579 that his work began to be widely recognized and served as an inspiration to several poets and authors who succeeded him.

His greatest work was "Os Lusíadas", which portrays and glorifies the great warrior spirit and pioneer of the Portuguese navigators at the time of discovery of overseas land

The Camões Project in this moment is a solitary project, where have only me as a great enthusiast. Being aware of this, I don't currently have enough SP , Steem nor SBD to be able to financially reward authors who can post their posts using the #portuguese tag (suggestion to developers: Please create a tag "portuguese") and be able to act as curator. Therefore, witnesses and whales that feel free to join the project are sure to be welcome.

In this initial phase of the project I need a lot of ideas and support from the portuguese-speaking authors that exist here at Steemit, which I have already seen is a small but significant number. We have authors here who have a very regular and interesting performance and who contribute a lot to Steemit with posts of great quality and originality. Surely together we will do a great job. I repeat: Whales or witnesses who want to join, help or sponsor acting as curators of the project, I am available to talk, any help will be appreciated.
