419 tons is what weighs the International Space Station.
837 are permanently habitable square meters.
90 minutes is what it takes for the station to go around the Earth.
16 times a day the astronauts see the sunrise and sunset.
The International Space Station (in English, International Space Station or ISS) is a research center in the Earth's orbit, whose administration, management and development is in charge of international cooperation.
The ISS is under construction since 1998 and at present is the largest artificial object in Earth orbit. It completes one turn approximately every 92 minutes and is approximately 408 km above the surface of the Earth.
although its height may vary due to atmospheric friction and repeated propulsion. The inclination is 51.6 °.
The station has reached approximate dimensions of about 110 m × 100 m × 30 m, with a large living area. According to the plans, it should remain in operation until at least 2024.
The ISS provides a platform to carry out scientific research that could not be done in any other way. Although a small unmanned spacecraft can provide zero-gravity platforms and space exposure, space stations offer a long-term environment where studies can potentially be conducted over decades, along with immediate access to human researchers in periods exceeding the capabilities of manned spacecraft. The station simplifies individual experiments, eliminating the need for rocket launches and research personnel to be separated. The main fields of research include astrobiology, astronomy, human research, including space medicine and life sciences, physical sciences, materials sciences, space weather and climate on Earth (meteorology). Earth scientists have access to the crew's data and can modify the experiments or start new ones.
