AAA Review - Taken (2008) - I will find you, and I will kill you.

But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.

Taken is a thriller in 2008 that quickly became a classic not because of the storyline, but for Liam Neeson extraordinary performance protraying a retired CIA agent. The above quote was so popular at that time that it was used by many other movies and TV programmes. It was also one of the most 'meme-ed' quotes ever.

Quick Plot

Ex-CIA agent Bryan Mills now led a retired life staying closed to his ex-wife and daughter, Kim. An overprotective Mills had be be convinced by Kim to allow her to take a vacation in Paris. However, things went south right when the girls arrived in Paris when they get kidnapped by boarding the wrong taxi.

Kim managed to call her father and gave him just a handful of information of the incident. Bryan Mills quickly get to work using his tracking knowledge and skills. He got into a brief phone call with one of the kidnapper and gave him the warning quoted above.

The movie quickly moves into a fast paced action thriller with the ex agent using all his skills to track the kidnappers and hunt them down one by one, eventually destroying the whole gang and saves his daughter.

Review

A simple storyline with uncomplex characters settings, Taken still managed to give viewers a great cinematic experience. Liam Neeson gave a strong performance and showed younger actors that he can star in an action movie even at his age.

Taken (2008) was a blockbuster success and 2 more films Taken 2 and 3 were released the following years, completing the franchise. But as typical of most trilogy, the first one is always the best.
