Have you even been to Salt Spring Island? - A quick trip
Have you ever been to Salt Spring Island?
Salt Spring Island is located in the Strait of Georgia between the British Columbia mainland (Vancouver) and Vancouver Island (Victoria).
The islands in this area are know and the Gulf Islands and Salt Spring is by far my favourite.
On a quick trip over today I snapped these photos.
There was something about this little boat just floating there in the harbour all on it's own.
And the old relic of boats of the past dotted along the shore seem to have such a story.
And if you're going to grab lunch why not have it in a restaurant that is built in/around a tree?

If you find yourself in this general area and have time for a trip to Salt Spring take it. Guarantee you won't be disappointed.
And if you can go on a Saturday in the summer you'll find a large farmers market in the town of Ganges (centre of the island). So much great produce and locally made goods it's a great way to spend an afternoon.
What are some of your favourite hidden gems?
Salt spring island here I come on a Saturday for sure...but it shall be next summer...thanks for this info. Is that a lake? Can one get a boat ride and good swim?
It is a Island but there are a few lakes on it. St. Marys lake is great for swimming. You can take a ferry there from Vancouver (1.5 hours), Victoria/Sydney (35 min), or Crofton (10 min). You'll need to bring a car as it's a fairly large island. You can also hitchhike as that is popular there but a car is best.
Thanks for all these info. You doing great! Keep it up...
Great shots!! Love the first one, the B&W the most :)
Thanks for sharing...
Thanks! I was just playing around with the photo sphere function on my camera and was in the sunlight so I couldn't really see what I was getting. But it ended up turning out pretty cool I thought. Happy accident.
It certainly did turn our pretty cool. Well done :)
If you get the chance, go to the Salt Spring Apple Festival in the fall! Amazing!
Cool. I'll have to check it out. I've been in the spring and the summer but never made a trip there in the fall.
I've never been there, but thanks to you - I want to see those places with my own eyes) thank you!
