New Gridcoin BOINC Contribution Fetching Mechanism

Progress toward a new BOINC stats collection mechanism continues!

An excellent article has been written by @jamescowens in which he explains in the working principle of the new “scraper” that was totally re-coded from Visual Basic to C++ for the upcoming Denise update.

We can be proud of our developer team, an incredible amount of work has been put in by them to make our code more future proof and supported by platforms in addition to windows.

GUI Bounty Match Passes

The fund match proposal for a new GUI has passed in the affirmative. A community bounty of over 250,000 GRC was raised. This means the total bounty stands at over 500,000 GRC. If you want to help out or learn more reach out to a dev on slack, discord, or github!

STATISTICS UPDATE

The stats update is divided into 3 sections: Blockchain Statistics, BOINC Statistics, and Project Statistics.

Every other week we bring you the most up to date statistics regarding the operation of the Gridcoin blockchain and Gridcoin BOINC projects. The information is gathered from Thursday to Wednesday on fortnightly basis and compiled from the getblockstats RPC command in the Gridcoin wallet, BOINCStats, GRCPool, Gridcoin Stats and from individual project websites.

Nodes localisation

For this SotN, we want to introduce a new type of data given by @grider123 (Admin of Gridcoin.ch). This chart will not be included on every SotN, but we may think on getting once a quarter to check the evolution of the nodes distribution across the world. Currently, this chart is just for information purposes. But it may become really important in the future if for example we translate our official documents in the countries present in the Top 5 list.
