That McAfee would eventually be forced to back off his $1 million dollar bitcoin call by the end of 2020?

McAfee has been a shady character ever since he made his money and came on the scene, with "shady" being the kindest possible way to describe him.
No matter what he says now though, there is no doubt in my mind that he meant these predictions when he made them:

However, the bear market was longer and deeper than most anticipated, McAfee included.
The interesting thing to me is that not only is he now saying that $1 million bitcoin won't be happening by the end of 2020, he seems to be saying it won't be happening ever.
I don't fully agree with that.
If bitcoin just keeps on doing what it has done since inception, it will eventually be worth a million dollars per coin, it may just take a decade or more.
Regardless, this won't impact bitcoin much but I do think it will destroy what little credibility John had left.

The value of the dollar going down will help bitcoin greatly in achieving the 1 million Dollar value.
I do think that bitcoin will go up as the dollar will go down at the same time.
That is the most biggest reason for me to believe that we will see a 1 million dollar bitcoin price eventually.
Yep, I could see that as well. Bitcoin may see $1 million some day, but that $1 million won't have the same purchasing power it has right now. Still be extremely valuable though.

He cant eat what he cant find. That being said Bitcoin is still the most secure and has the most complete infrastructure, and until its logarithmic trend fails then the price will continue to keep climbing long-term.

I agree with you. Timing these things is difficult and makes headlines. However, the chart don’t lie and the numbers are there to support an eventuality of $1,000,000 bitcoin.

When USD is worth as little as Italian Lira was, Bitcoin can be worth 1,000,000 USD... And with all the fuck-ups Trump does, it will be likely sooner than later.
I love McAfee. He's such a fucking unpredictable wild card. His hookers and blow antics really crack me up. That being said, anyone who believes what he has to say without any evidence to back it up deserves the consequences.
According to my Moore's Law predictions the highest Bitcoin could get by the end of the year is around $128k. However, the more accurate prediction would be $250k by the end of 2021, seeing as Bitcoin seems to spike at the end of its 4 year cycle based on halving events.
On a side note, comparing Bitcoin to the Model T is a huge mistake. You can't compare a physical asset to a digital one. Ten years ago, the Bitcoin network looked nothing like it does today. Ten years from now, the same will be true. You can't upgrade a physical asset the way you can a digital one. It's the same mistake everyone makes when they compare cryptocurrency to the dot com bubble. These things aren't comparable in the least bit.
It would be better to compare bitcoin to the automobile frame as opposed to the Model T. Bitcoin is a network that can be built upon.
Yea, according to past trends, 2021 would be when we should expect to see the real fireworks in terms of price appreciation.
In terms of McAfee, I really thought he would find a more clever way to get out of his call than this.
Who knows what happens in 10 years... It might well be that computers have been made obsolete and there is no currencies at all...

I think it will go back to swapping items and services directly instead of using currency as intermediate.
I think "eccentric " is the best way to describe John McAfee, and typical of his eccentricities, he's made bold claims and proud statements which few people take seriously, and fewer rely on. I still believe BTC will reach $1,000,000, though perhaps not as soon, or as vigorous as Mr. McAfee claims it to be.
So, I don't expect his "ruse" claims to have any effect on BTC's price at all, and I fully agree with your claims that BTC will reach $1 million, all in the long-term :-)
