My Stepson finally caught a fish!

in #life9 years ago

For months and months I have been taking him fishing and the entire time he has only caught one fish, and honestly he didn't even really catch it as I put the bait on, cast the line, and reeled in the fish. It just so happened to be on his pole so he thinks he caught it...

Not quite...

However, this time would be different. He baited his own hook, cast his own line, and reeled in his own fish. All the while I just watched.

As you can see, he was pretty excited!

My daughter was even forced to join us as I was on baby sitting duty for the afternoon...

(She looks happy there doesn't she?!)

Surprisingly, she had a great time even though we didn't let her run around as much as she would have liked. She is pretty adventurous and we weren't sure whether she would try to jump in the pond or not when we weren't looking...

However, I think she just enjoyed seeing all of the sights. I am not sure I can blame her when seeing interesting sights like these on a perfect sunny afternoon:

Yes, sadly that is me that is using a pink fishing pole... mine was being restrung at the moment and this one was all ready to go. It was originally for my daughter but since she is not quite old enough yet, dad figured he would give it a good test run. ;)

It works great by the way!

That would be the only fish we caught but it was a great little afternoon for the 3 of us and a memory I am sure my stepson won't soon forget. My daughter even seemed to have a blast even though she wasn't allowed to have as much freedom as she would normally have liked.

Thanks for reading and hope you guys enjoyed the pictures!

There was such healthy pride in his eyes, congratulations to him and to you as well! It was a cute story, thanks for sharing, namaste :)

Haha yea he was pretty excited. He even wanted to take it home as a pet... I had to draw the line on that one. ;)

So, he took it home for dinner instead? ;)

I remember having the same feelings too. Thanks for the reminder about our natural compassion. Namaste :)

Haha no, we practice mostly catch and release... especially out of that pond! ;)

Nice! I grew up catching fish and throwing them back. It was always a lot of fun.

Yep, same here. I have never been a big fish eater, but I sure love to catch them! :)

Hey that's a nice fish too! Great job! Looks like you guys had a good day :)

We did, it was a fun afternoon!

That's something he'll never forget!

He most certainly will not... he had been kinda lukewarm on fishing until he caught that fish... now he says it's exciting! :)

That's brilliant! Looks like he was just authentically proud and pleased, there! Reminds me a bit of going fishing with my dad as a kid... it was one of the few times we connected really well.

congratulations Boy :)
