Man drives 9 hours for a pizza...

How far would you drive for a pizza?

Well apparently for a man in Ontario, Canada, 9 hours was well worth the drive.

Walter Moon made the trek from Ontario all the way across the border and down to Pomerory, Ohio. Where he could enjoy himself a McDonald's pizza.

McDonald's sells pizza?

If you didn't know McDonald's was even selling pizzas you would not be alone. McDonald's is tinkering with rolling them out on the menu but so far it can only be found in two locations. The first being Pomerory, Ohio and the second being Spencer, West Virginia.

This isn't exactly a new item for the company as the McPizza was a staple in McDonald's restaurants in the 1980's up into the early 1990's.

It was originally taken off the menu because of it's long cook time. The 11 minutes it takes to cook the pizza didn't fit well with the company's business model of "fast food".

The times they are a changin...

Now as the times are changing and people are moving away from just wanting their food as quickly as possible, McDonald's is starting to experiment a bit more with it's menu in hopes of stealing back some it's market share that has been lost to some of the newer, more popular fast casual restaurants.

First it was breakfast all day, now it's new items like pizza being added to the menu. Will this be enough to turn the struggling sales figures around?

Driving 9 hours for pizza (or any food item) seems a bit extreme, but what do you guys think, how far would you drive for a pizza?

It's much easier for us. 20 minutes walk and we are at the pizzeria. We make an order and can see how it is cooked in the oven. It turns out very cool.
We go there with my family on the weekend.
Thank you for the interesting post.

Wow, that looks outstanding! Thanks for sharing!

That's a MUCH nicer looking pizza!

When I read Pizza + Mcdonalds in one sentence

Haha that is pretty funny!

Haha well there you go! I wonder if this gets more press from people traveling long distances to try these if more locations will start serving them as well?!

i wonder whose horrible decision it was to take them away in the first place! lol #bringbackthepizza

Haha well it had to do with the slow cook time. Most of their food they can prepare and get it to the customer very quickly... The pizza had an 11 minute cook time which jammed things up for everyone else.

they are bringing fresh quarter pounders in next year or sometime soon, after they just also made the new customizeable burger option, it looks like they are really struggling to try and turn the brand around and bring customers back i just think a pizza would really help get them in the door lol it would for me anyways! even though i prob shouldn't be eating so much pizza haha

Yes I just read about this the other day as well. They want to bring in fresh meat as opposed to the frozen stuff they have been using for years...

mc donalds was my first job I ever had.. their frozen patties are like.. frozen hockey pucks lol looking forward to seeing what that fresh tastes like for them

I will give one a try whenever they come out. I personally love In and Out Burger and also Freddy's.... those 2 places have the best burgers on the planet in my opinion... and I am kind of a burger connoisseur... ;)

all day breakfast too they are trying, just like you mention

But your fat would. Are you saying you don't squat 5 times a week eating broccoli and meat all night??? Do you sit in front of the computer for more than 3 hours a day????? ??????

Haha I probably should be doing at least some of that.. more than I am currently that is for sure!

Hehe, I can honestly say that I think 20 minutes would be the max time i would drive for any take away food

Yea there is an "In and Out Burger" about 20 minutes from my house and that is about as far as I want to drive to get any take out food... it is often cold by the time I get home anyways...

That's how i always see it, any further you would have to get it up and it's never as good if you do that!

Nope... it is either that or eat it at the restaurant... but eating at a fast food restaurant is not high on my list... lol :)

Hehe, funnily enough it's not high up on my list either!

I wouldn't drive 2 mins for a pizza! Especially for one as average (and that's being kind) looking as that one. Sorry McD's, not impressed.

I would however go online and order a gluten free Hell's Pizza and have THEM drive 10 mins to deliver it. Google them... nom, nom

Haha well that does sound much better! Pizza from McDonald's doesn't sound the most appetizing to me...

i feel like mcdonalds pizza would be more of a " man u gotta try it just to try it" kind of things, i know my stomach couldnt handle mcdonalds pizza, it cant handle a mcdonalds burger normally ahhah

I think you are right. I would try it just say I have had it, but I can't imagine it being better than the places that specialize in pizza...

Man, not for a McDonald's pizza!

I'm from italy and personally I wouldn't drive 9 minutes for a McDonald's "pizza".

Cheers!
