Litecoin: Will it take over the cryptocurrency world?

With of the hype and surging prices of Bitcoin, Litecoin has been overshadowed. The altcoin (alternative coin) seems to be gaining steam and could wind up surpassing Bitcoin. So what exactly is Litecoin? "Litecoin is a cryptocurrency that has evolved from Bitcoin after its own popularity in the industry, this alternative, or ‘altcoin’ has emerged to allow investors to diversify their digital currency package, according to Investopedia. Litecoin is one of the most prominent altcoins and was created by former Google employee and Director of Engineering at Coinbase, Charlie Lee. Litecoin was the first to alter Bitcoin and the most significant difference is that it takes 2.5 minutes for Litecoin to generate a block, or transaction, in comparison to Bitcoin’s 10 minutes." As stated above Litecoins significant different is the time is takes to generate a block. This is key because in a world that seems to be moving faster and faster people want results faster and faster. People want transactions to be accepted immediately. That one huge distinction could eventually be the difference maker between Bitcoin surviving or dying off.

Litecoin has an advantage in my opinion that Bitcoin cannot match (as of now). If you're into the cryptocurrency scene the large blocks and faster transaction time easily plays in favor of Litecoin. From the tech side of cryptocurrency attacks are always possible, but less likely with Litecoin. In terms of investing Bitcoin clearly has the advantage, but that could change quickly. Advice, whether you are doing simple transactions, or looking for better net security protection you may want to turn your attention to Litecoin.
