5 Cool Sonic Facts You Probably Didn't Know

I just found some really interesting sonic facts that I thought I should share. Please tell me if you knew these facts before hand because I had no clue.

Sonic was almost a Rabbit

In Sega's brainstorming period for a video game character they almost made Sonic the Hedgehog, Feel the Rabbit. What kind of name is feel the rabbit, this name sounds like your demanding someone to feel a rabbit. It was a dumb name but somehow we got Sonic the fast hedgehog out of it so that is ended up ok.

Sonic almost had a girlfriend

The original idea of this was Sonic would have to save his girlfriend named Madonna from Dr. Robotnik. This to me sounds pretty much the same as the Mario saves Princess Peach from Bowser but still it could have worked for Sonic. Sega thought the whole girlfriend was too inappropriate for younger gamers so they got rid of the idea completely.

Eggman was Robotnik's original Japanese name

Dr. Eggman was the name of the villain in Japan, we originally knew him as Dr. Robotnik. Somehow the Eggman namecarried over and now he is known as both Eggman and Robotnik which is really confusing to me. Now he is mainly known as Eggman but I still call him Robotnik.

Sonic is Suicidal

If you don't press anything at the start of Sonic CD eventually Sonic will grow tired of waiting and jump off the edge. This is actually hilarious and is a joy watching a video game character kill himself because you did not give him enough attention.

Sonic was Air Freshener before He was a Hedgehog

Sonic's first debut was in a racing game called Rad Mobile in 1991. He was an air freshener hedgehog not a real hedgehog, but seriously it is an interesting debut. I wonder what people thought the spikey blue thing hanging in their windshield was before Sonic was released.
