Hello friends.. how are you fairing today? Am sure you all are doing great? It's another week on writing expedition. In today's discussion, am going to talk about the dangers of drug abuse. Let's begin;😎

THE DANGERS OF DRUG ABUSE AMONG YOUTHS

The issue of drug abuse among youths is a general Malady which requires urgent attention because of it's negative effect on the society. A drug is defined as a substance used as a medicine to treat or cure an aliment. However, the drugs are in most cases abused when youth wrongly take them without the perscription of medical experts. Some of the drugs commonly abused are carabis, cocaine, Indian hemp, etc. When these prohibited drugs are taken in excess into the body, the cause their victims to suffer alot of problems which will be outlined behavior.

On the part of the individual excess drug abuse can shorten one's life span. Several adolescents who indulge in the use of hard drugs have suffered from damage of certain fragile parts of the brain or inner organs thereby leading to excessive bleeding and death. These problems happen because the drug addicts do not adhere to prescriptions when taking the drugs.

The illegal use of drugs among youths who fall within the adolescents stage has led to the high rate of criminal activities in the society. After taking these drugs, they lost control of their actions and can engage in any criminal act without realizing it's consequences. They can kill, mane or destroy what they would have preserved. The nefarious activities perpetuated by arrived bandits are carried out under the influence of drugs.

To the government, drug abuse by our youths has contributed in blackmailing the image of our country. In several occasions, Nigerians who travel in or out of the country are subjected to search and screening because of the barbaric practice of some reculatrant youths who hide drugs in their body parts or inside their luggages.

However, here are some measures that can help reduce or eradicate these harmful practices by our youths. First and foremost, the adolescents who engage in this drugs should be educated to know the dangers of the consumption of these drugs. Parents and guardians should also monitor the activities of their children. They should from time to time find out about the peer groups their children keep. The government on it's part should make the curriculum to reflect the dangers of the drugs consumption. When these measures are applied, Nigeria's image will be redeemed in the aspect misuse of drugs among our youths.
