Five Dimensional Black Hole Breaks Physics!
Physicists have just developed a simulation on how a 5D (4 of space and 1 of time) black hole could work. The problem is, it completely redefines what is currently known about quantum physics. A recent article states (1):
"The simulation has suggested that if our Universe is made up of five or more dimensions - something that scientists have struggled to confirm or disprove - Einstein's general theory of relativity, the foundation of modern physics, would be wrong. In other words, five-dimensional black holes would contain gravity so intense, the laws of physics as we know them would fall apart."
This is especially interesting considering M-theory states there are as many as 11 dimensions (10 of space and 1 of time). If true, this could also help explain why gravity is so weak compared to the other three forces (electromagnetism, strong nuclear, and weak nuclear), as well as provide a possible Theory of Everything. Using the idea of a black hole to simulate and demonstrate higher dimensions is just the first step.
This is also interesting because we, as Christians, believe in realities beyond our perception. After all, we cannot see Heaven with our physical eyes, yet we believe it exists. When we consider all of the parallels between what we believe about spiritual reality and what physicists believe about extra spatial dimensions, we come to the stunning conclusion that we are all talking about the same thing, only from different perspectives.
