Artificial Intelligence: a tool for progress
Hello Project Hope community, I hope you had a great week and that this weekend is very productive. Today I want to share a post in which I will raise some thoughts around artificial intelligence. I've read some really interesting things regarding that topic the last few weeks, actually, the last few months, product of the pandemic.
I think we have all witnessed the great technological advances that we have had in the last few months, and unfortunately this advance was due to an unfortunate fact for humanity, for the world in general, but what is very true is that the world is no longer the same, and changes in all aspects are becoming more radical, faster.
Particularly I am very interested in the application of artificial intelligence in the medical area, since it is really my area of training, and I feel that it can be a great tool in the optimization of care, prevention of diseases and also improvement in diagnosis, but not only that, but in the discovery of new drugs.
- Discovery of New Drugs: If there is something that unfortunately will not end in the world as long as there are living beings, it is diseases. On the one hand, we are genetics, and by various mutations we can have a great possibility of presenting diseases, some inherited from our relatives, other diseases that we can acquire in various ways, so drugs will always be necessary, at least that is my vision of the matter.
Nowadays, for the discovery of a drug, millions of dollars of investment are necessary, as well as a lot of time, we can talk about up to a decade of studies, tests, among many other things in order for a pharmaceutical company to be able to say: "we have a new drug ",
Well, all this process is reduced in terms of time when artificial intelligence is used to "virtually" perform all possible mixtures, tests, projections, in short, the whole process becomes really fast, for this reason, science will not leave aside the use of this valuable tool that saves not only time but money.
- Predicting diseases: it must be said, artificial intelligence has an advantage over human intelligence in terms of data processing, it is able to process information really fast, and thus be able to relate more data and of course, have faster and more accurate results, for this reason, some aspects that could go unnoticed to the human eye, the AI could discover it faster, and not only that, but anticipate possible diseases.
I recently read that a group of Spanish scientists using AI could determine two years in advance if a person was prone to suffer a stroke or not, depending on the state and functioning of the heart today, it is incredible, but it is true.
Therefore, now is the time to explore all the possibilities that AI offers us in various areas, beyond the theories and fiction of a world dominated by bots, I think there are more positive aspects that it could bring to the human species.

Greetings friend, I remember reading something about how AI would help shorten the time of research and development of drugs, helping to simplify the number of combinations that do not work based on machine learning, no doubt saving time will benefit research.
Of course, time savings are as or more important than saving money.
Greetings friend @josevas217, it is impressive to observe how technology advances and with it artificial intelligence, processing information and relevant data of any disease is certainly valuable in any area but in medicine much more, if we could predict with a high percentage of effectiveness any disease in humans, we could apply a preventive medicine, protecting us in advance of some habits that are not very beneficial to our health.

Hi @amestyjA lot of progress has been made in this diagnostic aspect, but I believe that we will soon see giant steps forward in this aspect, since everything is happening very fast.

To be able to count with AI in these days is wonderful, even more if with it we can make tests and elaborate medicines (drugs) and prevent diseases in less time than the routine and traditional procedures. It also allows you to make massification in the elaboration of these medicines using your technology on a large scale, and without rest saving man hours.

Hi very well said human will always be on the lookout for disease endangering human race and with the help of artificial intelligence facilities in medical sectors it will help boost and improve advance measure for developing good drugs.
Personally AI makes me scared as I feel like all it takes is one guy who feels that it would be more effective to take of the limiters of an AI as that would most definitely be more effective and we are doomed.
Hi @josevas217 Artificial intelligence analyzes more data and deeper data using neural networks that have many hidden layers, that is why it has been so interesting all the research work related to it and the influence it will have on our future life, we lose sight of this issue, very interesting your post, thank you
