Uber Strikes And Kills

As we all know Uber started off as an more personal cab service that benefited both passenger and driver…

Uber allowed many to earn some extra cash on their spare time and giving them the option to drive a few hours and clock out. It also let the passengers feel a bit more comfortable by having the license plate, picture and name of the driver way before stepping foot in the car.

But Uber has been diving into autonomous cars since 2015 when they first announced they were going to entertain the idea of self driving cars with more than just laughs.
According to reports, Uber even went as far as building their own little town around Pittsburgh called Almono where they tested the cars before releasing them into the city.

Unfortunately, just recently in Tempe, Arizona, 49 year old Elaine Herzberg was walking her bike across the road when she was struck by a self driving Uber car. In the video you can see the person monitoring the car, focused on what I assume to be her phone seconds before the car struck Elaine Herzberg.

Uber has since stopped testing on self-driving cars in North America. They have also apologized to the family and sent their condolences.

Elaine Herzberg was rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately died from her injuries.

Prayers to the family.

I understand that the pedestrian has been found to be at fault for stepping out in front of the car. Self drive cars are already much safer than human operated ones and could be saving lives today but incidents like this will delay adoption.

Still safer than human driven cars by a long shot.

Self driven car i think it's a cool thing but the safety issue have to improve. All over the world a lot of accident is occurring every day.But in this case we have to see who is guilty for the accident.Uber has invested so much in this project why cant they invest some more to improve the safety issue.I have got a idea that the car will use it's sensor for avoiding accident. When the car will reach within 2 meters of any other object the car will stop automatically. In this process accident can be avoided. Thanks for the post.

I just wanna see no accident. This kinds of vehicle will run slowly to avoid accident.Expecting a safe road for every one.@upvoted and resteemed

My heart is broken for the family of Elaine Herzberg and my prayers are with them.

I am so glad the Uber has stopped self-driving cars, but it's terrible that someone's life had to be taken away to stop that.

From reading the news it seems that there were already few accidents with the self-driven cars, not deadly accidents, but still.
As for me I think this is the craziest thing and I totally disagree with it.
I mean how much more lazier do we want to become and soon there will be nothing for us to do, since the machines will do all the doing and thinking for us and it is not even safer or better and at what cause.

All this money they put into this insane idea and the accidents and deaths that it will cause is so frustrating to me, since the money could be used for something much more important.

Ah that is scary! The future is now! Remind anyone else of that bit in the new black mirror season where a self driving pizza car runs someone over? :')

wow nice care
