13 Year Old Swept Away In Sewer System
Teenager plunges 25 feet into a toxic sewer and captured it all on video.
In the picture above, marks on the left side show that he used his head to leave clues for search crews.
13 year-old Jesse Hernandez was spending Easter with his family moments before plunging twenty-five feet into a four-foot-wide pipe that carried him a mile.
Jesse went into an abandoned building and decided to jump on some wooden planks that eventually gave way.
This unfortunate event caused a massive search effort, but Jesse helped by leaving clues behind. He would smear his hand on the wall to let search crews know which way to go.
Can you imagine spending thirteen hours in a toxic sewer ?
Toxic or not, I can't even fathom it. According to reports, the sewer had high levels of methane and hydrogen sulfide.
When Jesse was rescued he was giving a cell phone to call his family and let them know he was okay.
Jesse underwent decontamination and was taken to a nearby hospital where further examination took place.
