Palmera nº32 Phoenix Loureiroi
Continuando con el género Phoenix hoy os voy a presentar una palmera de tamaño mediano o pequeño cuya distribución natural abarca un área muy amplia que incluye India, Filipinas, China, Paquistán... Su nombre es Phoenix loureiroi.
Es una palmera muy variable que dependiendo de su genotipo o las condiciones de cultivo puede variar mucho su apariencia. En general es como una palmera canaria en miniatura. Tiene una altura de hasta 4 o 5 metros y un estípite de aproximadamente 20 o 30 centimetros de diametro.
Aguanta heladas moderadas y la falta de agua pero no tanto como sus primas grandes, la datilera y la canaria. Su crecimiento es lento.
