Explicitly Analysing Ajax Vs Chelsea; Was It An Issue Of Complacency, Luck Or Refereeing Errors? (Editorial Analysis by @Josediccus)

Chelsea vs Ajax two nights ago is far the most competitive UCL match I've seen in two years and my goodness was it filled with drama? In my opinion I think Ajax suffered from inexperienced exactly the same inexperienced that ousted them from going to the finals of the UCL last season and they'll need to grow up in mentality as much as they're doing so well in their regular player, players like Van De Beek and Ziyech needs to start bringing maturity to the game just like goalkeeper Onana Is currently bringing. I believe the Ajax team might conquer Europe in the next five years if the major crop of players might just be allowed to continue. They've got a brilliant squad more than the rest of the top five league might even want to reckon with and this might hurt the teams they might be playing in the future and some nights ago they showed their capabilities Irrespective of being two men down.

In my opinion, Chelsea should have won the game if not for Frank Lampard's ineptitude and lack of experience as well. I think his lack of ability to read the team he'll be expecting his players to play against and fielding the right players to counter a very productive team is something very concerning, His love for English players is concerning too it's blinding his ability to do a flawless job and in my opinion, players like Tammy Abraham and Alonso including Mason Mount had no business in the line up yesterday but he fielded them anyway. Secondly his Subtitutions as of late are definitely spot on but they're always coming at the wrong time and it makes them ineffective. Mitchy Batsuayi could've kept the Ajax defenders busy and stopped them from helping their skillful winger but instead Lampard left Abraham on the pitch for 85 minutes and boy was that stupid? Yes it was! By all means a good manager should read the players he's got, field them on current form not because you love them and that's why Pep Guardiola will remain the best manager in the world for a long time. So it's really disappointing that Chelsea couldn't win after the opportunity was given to them on a platter, but boy should we talk about the controversy?

Referee actually changed the context of the game and it's a bit unfair to Ajax even if I believe the two red cards and penalties are spot on and well deserved. Like I said earlier. The Ajax coach is relying solely on the physical play on the pitch but having the right mentality and maturity took the game away from them. If you look carefully they were commiting needless fouls and tackles even after being four goals up and the only thing they could've done was to close shop, bring in defensive midfielders and stop trying to play the fast Pace football by tiring Chelsea as a result of keeping the ball in their possession. Planning to get More goals after you've gotten four against a big teams always comes back to bite you in the ass and this was a huge mistake, you don't go four goals up against a big team who can hurt you and still keep attacking and Making tackles that are dangerous. They earned a lot of cards and they weren't matured with addressing the referee hence the reason why they got that second red card.

Chelsea came back because of their mental capacity. Getting to know the Achilles heel of a vibrant and talented side as Ajax is when you poke them, make them make Mistakes, commit them and put them on the spot and when you do this, that's when start matching them for every brilliance they bring to the table. I think the referee had calls to make and he definitely made the right calls, Pulisic for one was a thorn in the flesh of Ajax, he was the reason for the first penalty kick brilliantly taken by Jorginho and he constantly made the ajax defenders make mistakes. Batsuayi could've committeed the Ajax players more but I talked about that earlier. All in all. Referee made the right call and there wasn't anything controversial who should be thankful to VAR for ruling out Azpilicueta's late strike.
