Broken Coffee Cup
Hi Steemians!
I would like to share with you some steps I made to modeling these objects in Blender.
Opening Blender in General workflow, deleting the default cube mesh and adding an image as reference.
Front view of the reference image on the Y-axis.
In "object mode" I added a cylinder mesh and scale it to the size of my reference drawing.
In "edit mode" I have divided and scaled the cube with the "Loop Cut" and the Scaling tools, following the shape of the drawing.
This is the built bowl. By removing the upper face of the bowl I'll make it hollow.
Extruding inward the bottom face of the bowl.
The bowl after adding the procedural effect "Solidify" in Modifier Properties.
Here is a side view of the cup with the handle already built.
Here is a solid view of the coffee cup.
By adding a circle mesh, I start modeling the saucer for the coffee cup.
In the Shading workspace, I generate a "material" for the objects by using nodes.
Cutting the bowl with the Bisect tool.
The coffee cup is in two parts divided, I can select and separate them now.
Repeating the same process for the handle and the saucer.
Here is a solid view of the "broken" handle.
Here is a solid view of all the parts of the coffee cup and its saucer. I can now, move it and rotate it separately.
Hope you liked it.
Have a very nice day!
That looks like real broken cup, especially placing the shadow from cup and also the highlight inside of the broken piece gives an impression of shiny surface :)

There was this kind of work (video) in a museum I went to this summer. The ceramics were falling and breaking, it was very realistic. I was wondering how to make these realistic breaks, so it was useful for me your post. I'll add a photo from the museum that I mentioned. Thank you for sharing this post :)
It's my pleasure! I'm very glad that my post has been useful for you.
