Meaning:

Not being able to think clearly. Confused.

be + fuddle + d

be + drunk + [adj]

Befuddled literally means being drunk.

Hence, it extends to mean not being able to think clearly, in a condition similar to that of someone being drunk.

Examples:

  1. I could be old, but I am not befuddled.

  2. He felt befuddled and failed the test.
