My Blueberry Muffin Shrub(VEG ROOM UPDATE #56)

in #cannabis5 years ago

What's up Steem! So I am finnally recovering from Canna Steem Fest, getting back into the groove of things. Right now I only have one plant indoors, vegging under 24 hours of light, with 0 darkness. The rest are outdoors, and I am bringing them in at night, inducing flowering in the middle of summer, also known as "Light Dep". The one I have indoors is Blueberry Muffin, bred by Humbolt Seed Company. I am doing things different with this one. For one, I am taking a step back from my indoor grow, to take time to save money, and buy a tent, with a better light. So I have retired a few strains. But with this Bbm, I am going to veg out longer, and in a bigger pot. 5 gallon instead of 3. Another thing I am doing different, is I am giving the plant a few hours of sunlight a day. This way I can cut down electricity costs, and TBH nothing can compare to the sun. I am doing this because ultimately I will finish this Bbm outdoors. If I was going to do all indoor, no way in hell would I do this, because bugs could be an issue. I do have to say, utilizing the sun has taken alot of stress off my shoulders. The only hard work is bringing in the plants, and taking them out. But with only 7 plants, it's not that much.

I have done some training with this plant. As you can see, it is more of a shrub! Also I find it a bit odd that the leaves are so miniature. Anybody have any idea why, please fill me in.

She is a little over 5 inches in height!

Here she is last week.

I thought it would be interesting to bend down the tops, and let all that bottom growth catch up.

A clothes pin worked perfect to hold down the branches. I have done this in the past to "LST" a plant. Also this can be done with using rocks and a string. That method was taught to me by @a1-shroom-spores, which he dubbed it "Caveman Stress Training"

I then just let the pin hold down branches till about 7 days later, which was today. I will monitor them and make sure they don't bend up. This way I can have hundreds of colas! Not to mention it is fun to manipulate the plant to grow like you want to grow. I will continue to give 24 hours of mixed light, meaning a mix of artificial, and real light. About mid June, early July I will transplant into a 5 gallon Smart Pot, and let nature finish the rest for me. I am very excited to see how the outdoor version does for this strain. The Blueberry Muffin terp profile is truly something that makes me wish we had smell-o-vision on the block chain. Maybe @yabbamat or @aggroed can work on this project next, :). Well until then, I will see you all in the comments! Peace

Maybe. Hey you should join the canna curate discord. Someone has been asking about you. https://discord.gg/wG9uK7z

Hey Jon, check out this article. Looks like maybe the problem is phosphorus deficiency.

I also found some articles on a genetic disorder that causes “little leaves”.

Nice grow you have there. I must admit I find the little leaves cute, and maybe this way the plant saves more energy for the buds... Every downside has an upside!

I absolutely love the name of dope plants. They always sound so delish. I used to grow one that smelt very strongly of passionfruit, but I can't remember the name. Probably 'passionfruit icecream' or something hahaha!!!

Hi, you have a great bush.
I use the wire, instead of pinches
Your way recorded.

The plant was probably shocked by the transition outdoors which caused the stomata to close and slow growth. The second thought is that by bending all of the tops youre changing the auxin hormone concentration and this caused pretty much every growth to be confused as to which is the top. The combination will lead to a stunted shrubby looking plant.

To fix it leave the plant indoors for a week or two until it catches up vegging the tops out. That way the yield wont be reduced.

So bending tops and sun light is making leaves small. This plants is not stunted, is actually growing very nice. It’s just different.
