Sundog: Resurrected Legacy
SUNDOG RETURNS!
Playing Sundog was the absolute highlight of my day in 1987. I’d had my first computer for about a year before I stuck that game disk into the drive. I was instantly hooked by the multitude of tasks that must be completed to win the game.
For those who don’t know, to win a game of Sundog you must explore entire worlds, find and build a colony, buy and sell goods in an intergalactic market, defend against pirates who want to steal from or kill you… and more. It’s more than just one game – it’s many.
I’ve played a bunch of games since then, but none of them brought me the pleasure I got from that old FTL game. Anyone could still play Sundog, of course. All you needed was a very old computer (I still have mine, and it works!), or a modern computer with an emulator. Until now, that is. Allow me to introduce you to Sundog: Resurrected Legacy.
This is in BETA, but it’s at an advanced stage and definitely ready for playing. Everything about the original game has been reproduced, including the graphics. I’ve played it through twice and I can attest that it’s just as good as, and maybe even better than the original game from FTL.
Right now you’ll need to read and sign the NDA (which is why I cannot talk too awfully much about what’s inside the game) and then download the free game. It runs in a Java environment, so you’ll need the latest JRE also, which you probably already have. Whether Mac, Linux or Windows is your thing, you really should head over there and get this gem of a game.
Thanks for reading!

Omfg, tell me this not true. If you do this I'll totally the support this project. Sundog was thee bestest space game for the apple. Loved "excuse me sir, can you spare a few credits", then he would try to rob you if you didn't give him anything. And don't forget using shunts to get you limping back home. Thank you very much..... :) <- BIG SMILE
It's a done deal! And I had nothing to do with it - I'm just a beta tester. Head over there and read/sign the NDA, then download and play this awesome recreation! You will be as amazed as I was at how perfectly they replicated the gameplay. Don't expect flashy 32bit updates - the goal was to recreate the original. And they DID.
I've e tried to play it on emulators, but it wasn't the same. Thanks for the news.
