*Steem and Steemit proposal - We need this change ASAP!*
I propose that we change the number of witness votes from 30 down to 10.
I would actually be in favor of dropping it even lower than that 10 number, perhaps something around 5 would be even better.
Why do I say that?
Currently we have a situation where the top 20 witnesses are basically all being decided by the votes of just a couple of the largest stake holders.
That means the direction of the platform is basically being defined by just a couple of the largest stake holders.
That is the opposite of decentralized.
I propose that we limit the number of votes to 10 (or even better 5), in order to better protect and decentralize the chain.
Please help me get this in front of Steemit,Inc so we can make this change as soon as possible.

It's a good idea. However, it would have to get past the people that are voting for each other to ensure they remain in the top positions.
Which is exactly why this system is doomed to fail unless we make some changes.

That's a little dramatic, but I do agree it could be better.
Ok, maybe not fail outright... but if the plan is for this chain to be a decentralized currency then it would indeed fail at that.
It will become harder and harder to become decentralized as time goes on with the current model. In it's current form you could literally have the ideas of one or two individuals represented by the entire blockchain as they keep voting in people to do what they want and think is best. That isn't decentralized at all.
The more I think about this, I think our votes need to be limited to something like 3-5 votes per person...
