Thank you for joining me yesterday to discuss how we can improve our communication. There were some really great suggestions that we’ve been going through as a company today and yesterday. As I mentioned, one of the next steps is to discuss these ideas with some of the Slack mods and try to put together a better way of connecting ICONOMI with our community.
Community Initiatives
Starting a community initiative to respond to new Reddit posts more quickly
There are a lot of repeated posts on the ICONOMI subreddit, and when these are left too long without a response, it can lead to FUD. By creating a group of first responders with all the facts, we can shut down FUD before it begins. Please DM /u/Benjaminbrick here if you are interested in being part of this initiative.
Supporting community members who are doing incredible things for ICONOMI
There are some great things going on in our community that we should support. The more ICONOMI information we can push out to the public, the less likely we are to have Reddit posts asking “What is going on with ICONOMI?” Here are some examples we’ve already seen:
/u/jesusthatsgreat shared his new website, https://icnhodler.com/, which puts the main sources of ICONOMI information in one place.
/u/Harillen posted about making YouTube influencers more aware of ICONOMI. While we are more focused on traditional finance, this kind of outreach could be a community initiative target.
/u/Cicotron asked for more commentary on our financial reports. This is another good idea the community could help with.
Some community members also write articles about ICONOMI, like this one published yesterday by /u/owenoneilluk on how BLX is currently outperforming bitcoin.
/u/DragonTEC had a bunch of great ideas, and we are working on an FAQ as we speak.
Dates
Something that came up a lot in the comments was a desire to know when the monthly reports will be released. We will aim to release the monthly report before the end of week 3, but from now on we will inform you of the specific date by 5 PM CET on the fifth of each month.
Our own content
We need to provide more content. We like the idea of following our DAA Manager Series with a similar series on ICONOMI team members to help you get to know us better. We should also share more about our new dashboard and our DAA comparison feature. What else would you like to see from us?
We had some honest comments from community members like /u/hawke34 talking about our AMAs being evasive and noncommittal. From the start, we have been working hard to build out our platform, but naturally, being one of the first successful companies in this new blockchain environment, there are some things we simply cannot share. We understand that crypto has engaged a whole community of followers who are as excited as we are, but we ask you to understand that while it’s easy to commit to things, it’s much more important to actually deliver. We’re excited to say that next year we will be the first blockchain project to undergo a full audit by a Big Four firm.
We are going to reopen the subreddit to link submissions, which we hope will provide focused topics for discussion. We will also be going through Reddit accounts that have engaged in interesting discussion on ICONOMI and allowing them full posting access on our subreddit. Finally, weekly discussion threads will provide a space for everyone to share their thoughts and opinions.
The idea of weekly discussion threads came up a few times, and it’s something we’d like to try moving forward. The first weekly discussion thread will start on November 27, 2017 at 10AM CET and will be a chance for the community to share interesting insights, links, and talk about different topics surrounding ICONOMI.
Also, we will follow community suggestions and archive future AMAs on Medium to allow the discussion to continue.
Slack
Rocket.Chat seems like a good substitute for Slack, which is full of phishing scams. We’ve had to stop Slack signups, and it isn’t an ideal situation. We’ll provide more details soon, but, in addition to public channels, we’re planning to set up a channel for community members who want a place for focused discussion. Token holders will be able to prove ownership of ICN tokens in order to gain access to a private room where they’ll be free to chat with other ICN holders. Anyone will be able to read the channel, but only those holding moderate amounts of ICN will be able to participate directly. Of course, our community team will be helping us run this.
Roadmap
We know the roadmap we are working toward, but it’s easy to forget that some of you might be new to ICONOMI. We will be publishing a broad roadmap on our website and on Medium so you can see the specific goals we are moving toward.
