The begining of music.
Hey Steem Punks & Steem Princesses!
I have been playing music for about 15 years.
When I was about 13 or 14 years old my dad bought me an electric guitar and a guitar amp. The amp had very fuzzy distortion, and I didnt know anything about playing guitar.... but even hitting random notes with that distortion on made me feel like a badass haha. My parents eventually bought me an adapter and headphones for my amp because they couldnt stand the terrible noise hahah. They never said that, but it makes sense.
I ended up meeting a kid on the bus named James. He said he could play guitar and asked if I wanted to come over and jam with him. He wanted to start a band and needed a bassist. His father was a very talented bassist and told me he would help me learn.
The first time I heard a guitar and bass guitar in sync I was amazed. The feeling I had when everything fell into place perfectly in a musical sense was just unbelievable. There is no greater accomplishment in feeling than to represent your emotions though art. I felt like this was a mile stone for my future dreams. The music was in my soul.
Heres a video of me playing the bass later on in my career:
I still sucked ass at the bass.... but I joined a band. We played metalcore... I used to jump onto the drum kit and slam away for fun.. the other members in the band were actually talented. I just liked to headbang hahah. Needless to say they kicked me out of the band and I was quickly replaced. This is was the start to my drumming career.
I invested in a drum kit and began training in my parents garage. My sister was pissed off everytime I would come home from school because I would immediately go slam on my drum kit. I later joined a christian band called "Cloud IX" and I played the drums as a replacement to a guy who went off to college. The music was somewhat complex soft rock and challenged me to become a better drummer. I played my first show in front of maybe 75 people. It was the biggest rush of my life. It felt like all the best drugs you could ever do kicking in all at once. The adrenaline was like being a super hero. This......this was what changed my life.
Are you still in "Cloud IX" ?
anyways, whatever you said about your childhood, thats so refreshing :)
