Settles
Over the buildings
The city
A dark garden
Of fireflies.
The eyes of God
Range over the streets;
Peer into windows—
Tiny pictures
Of other lives
Scrutinized
Souls weighed on scales
And the plumb line
Of justice prevails
No one’s ways
Hidden
From his face
Their deeds
Written
On tablets of tin
And who can stand
When he peers
Within?
The eyes of God
Roam over the earth
Nothing is hidden
From his face
In the darkness
Musky weeds fume…
And flowers release
Their sweet perfume.
Quién escapa de los ojos de Dios? De sus designios? Es él el gran vigilante de nuestras vidas, @johnjgeddes. Por algo lo llaman el omnipresente. Pero dónde está esa mirada? Desde el cielo? La mirada de Dios está dentro de cada uno de nosotros, de nuestras acciones, en nuestra conciencia. Son sus ojos los que nos miran cuando estamos con nosotros mismos, cuando hacemos un inventario de las cosas buenas y malas que se hayan podido hacer en el día. Pero también lo encontramos allá afuera. Es él el que habla cuando vemos la tarde caer, florecer las orquídeas, volar los pájaros, llorar un anciano, reír un niño. Como dices en tu epígrafe: no se le puede engañar, los engañados somos nosotros. Un abrazo
