Lonely Bus Ride Home
Like drops of rain
On a sunlit street
In August;
Summer storms
Pass quickly
And fade
As if they never were.
And that’s how it was
With us
Leaving me
With nothing to own,
But stormy days
And me alone
Staring
Out a window
On a bus
Heading to the city
Stopping in every town
Small and dreary…
Desolate,
Scarred by your beauty.
