Don’t Be Lovely Anymore

I have a garden
Within me—
A solitary place
That grows silence and sadness.

Tonight the splashing darkness
And glazed cellophane
Of lightning
Will crumple me again.

Do you care?

If I walk far enough
And long enough
The mist will take me home,

But don’t take me in.

Don’t be lovely any more—
Hate me, ignore me,
Shut the door—

But don’t take me in;

Don’t be lovely any more.

This poem was published here before I made my comment in your previous post ... yet, in a way, it is an answer to what I said.

It's funny the way that works - sometimes my poetry answers questions that arise from my stories as if my subconscious is continuing a dialogue in a different key
