Can you live with broken dreams
And memories
Lonely as the striking
Of a midnight clock?

If you can live with these
And wet streets
The rain has swept clean
Of crowds and reveries
And Fridays lost

You may understand me
And perhaps you must
For I am the last
Of a passing throng
Of men gone wrong

I find no space
In a heartless age
Am happiest in wind and rain
And the slender chance
We might meet again

I watch the ways
The wind bends dark willows
And can say for certain
Your tresses are as lovely

Your dark eyes
A secluded cloister
Where wet leaves scatter
In a downpour

And we discreetly meet
Where no one gathers
And shelter
In an alcove

Like tiny sparrows under eaves
Cling to each other
In the pudder of dreams
That drives us together again.

Splendid penning and expression telling perhaps of man who prefers to live in the perfection of remembrance than in a world void of connection. Some very original spin of imagery, here:)

thank you, Pryde - very poetic response :)

The piece was inspiring:):):)

That is excellent, John. Reminds me of the rhythm and beauty of Song of Solomon.

high praise, indeed, lydon - Thank you!

This is lovely, @johnjgeddes. I like the images of the dark willows and tiny sparrows. I was very curious about the artwork but the link would not work for me. Who is the artist?

thanks - hmmm, link works for me - David Lynch

Okay thank you! I will try again when I can get to a computer. For some reason I can’t follow the link from my phone.

To write is one thing, to create a mood is another. Well done, striking words with a melancholic sway. Wonderful discovery, followed and upvoted.

This actually got me carried away ... I love the part

I find no space
In a heartless age
Am happiest in wind and rain
And the slender chance
We might meet again

Thanks for this creativity @johnjgeddes ... Nice poem, though I wish I could write something like this one day ....

"Can you live with broken dreams
And memories
Lonely as the striking
Of a midnight clock?"

It is not as bad as people may think, it is actually very calming to be alone like a striking clock in midnight.

"You may understand me
And perhaps you must
For I am the last
Of a passing throng
Of men gone wrong"

Very beautiful one.

Thanks for sharing :)

thanks @alignment - It is calming. I have a grandfather clock that softly chimes all night. It's lonely though if you're lying awake hearing each chime through the night :)

This very love post i appreciate your life thanks for sharing this writing best of luck..resteemit...
