Feb 3 Bible Verse: Psalms 91:2
I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. (Psa 91:2)
When things go wrong in your life do you confidently turn to the LORD? If so, you might want to reconsider how you are living. If you have to TURN to the LORD, it may mean that you are not fully trusting in him at all times. You are trusting in yourself and using the LORD as your back up plan.
David relied on the LORD at all times to be a refuge from the world. A fortress to protect him from the things going on around him. Being a fallen creature, he still sinned against God, but when he did, he repented and sought forgiveness. (Psalms 51). Because of his love and devotion to God, David knew that he had someone who was always watching over and protecting him.
Do you have that kind of relationship with God? Is he an integral part of your daily life or do you just give him a couple of hours a week at church, then call on him when you've got a problem?
God is not some cosmic genie just waiting for you to tell him what you want him to do. He is a refuge from the world, a fortress that will protect you from the devil, who prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. (1Peter 5:8)
Soli Deo Gloria

Amen brother. I'm somewhere between the two characterizations you described. I repent and beg for mercy and help many times a day, so there I know my connection with God is intact, yet I sin against his will for me in various ways on a quasi-regular basis as well. Yet, he is still quite generous with his Holy Spirit and presence. Thank you for your post, it encouraged me today. May God Bless You.
Glad it was helpful.
Yes, Christ is a strong tower.
