The Poet and his admirer

On Saturday afternoon we went to Renmin Gongyuan (Peoples Park) for our later afternoon walk.

It is a smaller park next to Honghu Gongyuan where we normally go for our afternoon walks, and for some reason, I have not visited this small jewel before. It is very well constructed and is actually a formal rose garden, with many varieties of rose species, all beautifully marked with a proper plague identifying the rose breeder and the time of breeding. I saw that there is also a nursery next to the park, but because it is Saturday, it was closed.

I will make point of documenting the rose garden as such on another time as it is the beginning of autumn and most of the roses are without flowers at this stage.

I actually took my infrared camera for this walk and had a ball of a time photographing the trees and the streams in infrared. I guess my next blog entry will be an infrared entry!

But, like always, I also took my Fujifilm X100F - just for in-case I see something worth adding to my street photography collection.

And this was one of those times that my habit paid off.

This man is writing poets on the paving with water. The poem only lasts about 5 minutes before it disappears in the heat of the day.

The (unfinished poem) goes something like this:

"Everything in the world is free
Your garden is blossoming,
and the blossoms are falling
and looking at the clouds ..."

This reminded me of landart, which, in many cases, have a similar fleeting existence - sometimes only for the eyes of the artists, and sometimes as evidence exhibitions (where the artist document his artwork with photos and then exhibits the photos).

I hang around appreciating his artwork, but also with the ulterior motive of waiting for a passer-by to appreciate his work to get a good storytelling street photograph.

This little girl did not disappoint me.
