The Gentle Gaints

When we arrived at the Singapore Botanic Gardens I immediately noticed these extraordinary large trees - not that they are very high but rather large at their base.

As a tree lover, I could not help but work up to them and start photographing them. My Infrared camera was around my neck with the 35mm lens. For me, this was exactly the right focal length to emphasize their odd figures.

The Gardens was established in 1859 by the Agri-Horticultural Society and became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015. The Gardens was designed by Lawrence Niven and it reflects the typical English Garden style of the 18th century. The gardens contain over 60,000 plants and trees and are spread over a 60-acre area.

For the rest of our visit I did not get time to investigate other tree photography possibilities. This means I will need to make a plan to go back for some dedicated tree photography.

Wonderful photos, I can see them as a book cover. Well done.
